Young Marines of the Marine Corps League
The Young Marines is a national non-profit 501c (3) youth education and service program for boys and girls, aged eight through high school graduation. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral and physical development of its members. The program focuses on teaching the values of leadership, teamwork and self-discipline, so its members can live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The Young Marines strengthens the lives of America’s youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building and leadership and promotes a lifestyle that is conducive to being productive members of society.
Young Marine’s Marine Corps League Commendation Ribbon Unit (#1502) – Awarded to a Young Marine unit, regiment, or division for outstanding performance of duty to the community over an extended period of time, or for any single act when the Unit has performed under great competition with other units or organizations. Marine Corps League Detachment, Department, Division, or National Commandant can submit a short letter to the Young Marines’ National Executive Director (Col Bill Davis) nominating a Young Marines group (unit, regiment, division) for the award. In 1959 in Waterbury, Connecticut, several Marine Corps League members formed an organization for boys that would mirror the values of the Marine Corps. Their vision – to offer leadership training and other life skills – formed the bedrock of the organization known today as the Young Marines. Years later, the program is a highly respected youth organization, for boys and girls age eight through high school graduation, that has grown to over 200 units. The focus, though, has remained the same: to strengthen the lives of America’s youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. | Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award The Marine Corps League considers it an Honor and Privilege to recognize America’s future leaders for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout by presenting them the Marine Corps League’s “Good Citizenship Award” Certificate and to have the Eagle Scout become aware of the skills that they have mastered to become an Eagle Scout are also held in very high regards by the Marine Corps League and Corporations throughout the United States. The award is a gold and purple square knot, which may be worn only on the Scout uniform. A congratulatory letter from the Marine Corps League National Scouting Committee Chair is included as recognition for this award. Department or Detachment Commandants may recognize Marine Corps League members who earn this award as they deem appropriate.
The Community Organization Award is designed to recognize Marine Corps League members who are actively involved in the Scouting program. This award is not meant to be a selective or limited award, but one that is available to any Marine Corps League member who completes the requirements for the award. The award is meant to recognize the dedication and work required by a Marine Corps League member to assist in furthering the Scouting program in the Marine Corps League.

The Meaning and Self-Worth of a Scholarship To a young student, receiving a scholarship is more than just financial support – it’s a validation of their hard work, potential, and promise. It affirms that someone believes in their ability to achieve, even when they may still be discovering it themselves. A scholarship can lift the burden of financial stress, but even more profoundly, it ignites confidence, hope, and a sense of purpose.
MARINE CORPS LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW PURPOSE
In furtherance of the mission and charitable objectives of the Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps League Foundation, this scholarship program is established to provide financial assistance to qualified applicants who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution of higher education.
Applicants must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, as a full-time student carrying a minimum course load of twelve (12) semester credit hours for the Fall 2026 academic semester.
Scholarship grants may be awarded for up to four (4) academic years, contingent upon continued eligibility, satisfactory academic progress, compliance with program requirements, and the availability of Foundation funds. Award years are not required to be consecutive.
It is a two-step process, the student completes the Scholarship Application by July 21, 2026, students who qualify will be placed on a preliminary accepted list and then must complete their specific college Student Data Sheet and Proof of Enrollment from the college by September 21, 2026.
Don’t forget the final requirement: For those who are selected for the scholarship award, you must submit a Confirmation of Enrollment as a full-time student from the school. Reminders to submit this confirmation will not be sent. Without confirmation, you will not receive the award. Details for submission of this confirmation will be provided to those successful applicants when the preliminary list is posted on the League website. Scholarship Governance Policy:
All scholarship awards shall be administered in accordance with the bylaws policies and fiduciary standards of the Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps League Foundation.
The Foundation reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the scholarship program as required to ensure responsible stewardship of charitable funds.

DELTA DENTAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Delta Dental Scholarship open enrollment is 1 April to 30 June 2026
PURPOSE: To grant Scholarships to Qualified Applicants who are pursuing a full-time degree program or certification/license of technical training at a full-time recognized institution.
ELIGIBILITY: Only the following ‘Relationships’ shall be considered: (Rev. A-Eligibility changes) Active Duty, Reserve Duty, Honorably Discharged Veterans of the United States Military who served during the War on Terror Era (9/1/2001 to present time). In addition, the Veteran’s Spouse, Child, Stepchild, Sibling is also qualified.
