The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by World War I Veteran of Belleau Wood, Commandant of the Marine Corps, then Major General John A. Lejeune. On August 4, 1937, the U.S. Congress Congressionally Chartered the organization as a Veteran Service Organization. It maintains a 501c4 non-profit status with the Internal Revenue Service with special tax exemption.
The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines and FMF Navy Personnel who wear or who have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism.

The Lost Art Project: Veterans’ Voices
Preserving Voices. Protecting Legacies.
The Lost Art Project: Veterans’ Voices is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the lived experiences, stories, lessons, and voices of America’s Veterans for future generations.
Founded by retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant Andrew “AJ” Cox, the project began with long-form Veteran interviews and has grown into a broader digital preservation mission.
Through Veteran Stories, Veterans are given the time and space to tell their experiences in their own words. FireSide Chat w/ the Crew brings Veterans together for live, unscripted conversations about military service, leadership, history, transition, Veteran issues, family, camaraderie, and the lessons learned through a lifetime of service.
The project also produces Jarhead Jabber — The Official Marine Corps League Podcast, a monthly live program connecting Marines, League leadership, programs, Veteran Service Officers, the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, and special guests directly with Marine Corps League members and the broader Veteran community.
Recording the stories, however, is only the beginning.
The Veterans’ Voices Archive provides a permanent digital home where Veteran oral histories, podcasts, recorded conversations, and other digital Veteran-history materials can be collected, organized, and preserved.
The Veterans’ Voices Research Portal (VVRP) makes that preserved history discoverable, allowing families, researchers, educators, historians, Veterans, and the public to search across the collection for people, military units, locations, conflicts, organizations, topics, experiences, and specific words and phrases contained within transcripts.
Through the Veterans’ Voices Archive Network (VVAN), the project is expanding beyond its own recordings by bringing together Veteran podcasters, historians, libraries, museums, organizations, and other content creators who are already documenting Veteran history. The goal is to preserve more Veteran-created material while allowing participating organizations and creators to maintain their own identity.
The Historical Archivist Program takes the mission directly into communities across the country by training individuals to identify Veterans, conduct oral-history interviews, and preserve those stories using a consistent preservation process.
Together, these programs support one mission: Collect. Preserve. Educate. Inspire.
Every Veteran has a story. Every story is a piece of history. The Lost Art Project: Veterans’ Voices is working to make sure those voices remain available long after the conversation ends.
